Tisas 1911 Duty Double Stack Gen 2 9mm Optic Ready Pistol with Bull Barrel

An almost perfect firearm. Only issue is the optic cut is not within spec. Many others have this same problem. I went to install a Holosun 407k and its too tight so I had to Dremel down some so the optic would fit. Other than that, great firearm. A perfect choice to get into the 2011 market. I think trigger is perfect. Almost like this as much as my Canik Rival SFX S.

When I picked it up from the FFL that had an indoor range, the range was the first place I went after the 4473. It has no bull barrel and a GI guide rod, but shooting it, I couldn't tell the difference. I was able to shoot this fast and not stray far off target. I have medium size hands and had no problem holding it. You could shoot this being lazy and still get good shots with it. I shot a Staccato XC and loved it. I know I couldn't afford it right now, so I went with the Tisas. I have no regrets. The Tisas also accepts prodigy magazines which are plentiful.

Not new to handguns or 1911s, having owned and fired them for over 40 yrs. Examining my new Tisas DS Carry, I was impressed with the fit and finish of the parts. Everything looked quite good. Cleaned and lubed it, took it for the 1st outing. Shooting it was a big disappointment. Tried 115, 124, and 147 gr ammo. At only 7 yds, all shots were at the extreme left side of the target, 8.5 X 11, or off the target at the bottom left corner. I had taken another 9mm 1911, never go to the range with just 1 gun. My Bul Armory, also a Cmdr. size, same ammo, was in and around the 1 square box, toward the top, where I aimed. Contacted Tisas customer service, SDS Imports, and was given a return label after sending a description of the issue and a copy of my target. Gun was returned, no changes made, but a note saying it met their accuracy standards...Really. Since it was an optic-ready pistol, decided to try a red dot to see if I could adjust it to hit where aimed. The red dot got my pistol’s windage corrected, so hits center of target instead of left edge. Took a lot of adjustment to get it centered. Elevation wasn’t as fortunate. With elevation adjusted as high as possible, it was still shooting 2 to 3 below aim point at 7 yds. My gunsmith suggested he could add some metal to the barrel to raise the barrel, but I’m ready to give up on it rather than spend more $ trying to get it to shoot to my aim point. I’ve got other pistols that shoot a lot more accurately.
